Getting Started with Dancing

Welcome to Square Dancing Pittsburgh! Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to expand your dance repertoire, our community offers a variety of dance styles to explore. Start with square dancing, where you'll learn basic calls and formations, making it a fun and social way to meet new friends. For those interested in a different rhythm, consider round dancing, which combines smooth moves with beautiful music, or line dancing, perfect for those who enjoy solo dancing with a group vibe, or social dancing (like The Hustle), where the focus is on couples having fun together.

Classes and Workshops

We offer regular classes and workshops for all skill levels, led by experienced instructors who are passionate about dance. Our beginner sessions focus on foundational steps, while intermediate and advanced classes help you refine your technique and add flair to your movements. Odds and Ends

General practice - Tips (dancing sessions that alternate with rest breaks) vary in the level of experience required to accommodate dancers present- alternating through the range of skills demonstrated. Callers are typically very attentive to squares that would benefit from a little pause in the action for instruction and some practice working out the movements.
